Hi there!

As a member of the#PortraitClub's critique squad, I'm here to give you some tips and let you know why your deviation has been rejected by the club.
Let me say first, that this kid has got a delicious smile, I can see the core of any childhood in it! You definitely made him happy by buying that hat I see :D
Since the EXIF data are not detectable, I'll try to guess what were the incorrect settings, but feel free to tell me off if I'm wrong :P
First of all, the photo is overexposed and it can be because of two different settings: aperture and shutter speed. It could be either a too much long shutter-speed (which would also explain why the picture looks blurred over-all) or a too large aperture. Or maybe both!
This implies that the brightest colours are burned (the sky, the cheek of the kid, the hat, etc).
What I would suggest when it comes to portraits, is to keep the aperture as open as possible (in the same light condition as this shot, for example) so you get a very blurred background which empathise the subject itself, and reduce the shutter speed as much as you can. You'll probably be able to get the right balance of light and, without the blurring, stunning details such as the skin texture and the eyes...little things
Next time, pay also attention to the cropping and the framing in general.

I hope it helps!
